Nursery called me today to let me know that Lily had bumped her head but all was okay, to my relief. I then asked them how she was getting on with her phased return and they said she was settling in brilliantly so I asked if they’ve seen any throwing herself on the floor tricks to which she laughed and said, ‘oooh yes, 2 or 3 times today’. We then chatted about her big character and they jokingly said she is a diva. Apparently she refused to dance with all the other children until they played Baby Shark - reminds me of myself on my wedding day. I refused to stand up until they played my favourite song to start the party!
Before having Lily I prided myself on my children and parenting. They’ve always been the good ones; two boys who are manageable with barely any tantrums. I’m not going to lie, before Lily I may have cast some friendly judgement when I saw children with strong wills, thinking it was all down to the parenting and boundaries set in place. Boy oh boy how I’ve changed my mind now. I apologise to everyone who I’ve mistakenly thought it may be they just didn’t have the certain techniques because now I have my own little wildling I know any parent, experienced or not can be given a run for their money with the right child. On the day Lily was born, one of the midwives said ‘you’ve got a feisty one there!’ I thought feisty, shmiesty... I’ll decide that. Now I realise she was right and I was wrong! Fortunately I love a challenge and that’s what I’ve been sent with my daughter. It’s up to me and her Daddy to harness her power and strength to do good in the world (after all we want a daughter who knows her own mind, who isn’t afraid to say no and walks with determination and fire in her heart). As fearless as she is and gives 0 f’s when we’re using a sharp voice, she does respond well to praise and loves attention so this is the first step in taming our little wild flower. Who else has a fiery little pocket rocket on their hands? Is it a girl thing?
